Many people ask this question (as I have and still do). However, I am learning that there is no "One size fits all" when it comes to meditation. I think the most important thing is to have a quiet place to do it and to sit up. Do not lie down or you may end up falling asleep. Also, it is a good idea to do it when you are fully awake and have no distractions. Turn your phone off and put the kids to bed. You want to make sure that your mind is as clear as it can be. If it isn't, keep trying until you get it.
I am still learning and as I go through my journey I will let you know what I learn. These are some fundamentals but as I said "There is no right or wrong way to do this." I am saying this because I had gotten discouraged from doing this at first because I felt that I was doing it wrong. So go ahead..nothing beats a failure but a try!
